ja, ich wuerd die 40er gern gegen ne 160er austauschen.

meine aufteilung ist:
platte1:
- system: 10gb (mit programmen etc)
- "krams": 10gb (downloads usw)
- temp: 60gb (emule/aj-temp und share +immer platz zum dvd rippen/konvertieren)
platte2:
- musik: 120gb
platte3:
- spiele: 40gb

...und die musikplatte platzt aus allen naehten...

achso, es ging ja eigentlich um einkaufempfehlungen.
ich wuerde ne maxtor nehmen, und zwar die 6Y160P0
160gb, 7200rpm, 8mb cache, ata133, leerlaufgeraeusch: ca.27dB

(so eine hoffe ich in absehbarer zeit auch mein eigen zu nennen )

also meine IBM laeuft 24/7 leise und kuehl... und das schon ziemlich lange

ich hatte die maxtor ausgesucht weil sie ata133 kann und die wd nur ata100...

nochmal ne frage an die allgemeinheit:
hat jemand erfahrungen mit samsung festplatten?
die 160er mit 8mb cache kostet bei ebug naemlich nur 118euro (also immerhin gut 30 weniger als wd oder maxtor) ...mit 2mb cache sogar nur 106euro

Den Unterschied zwioschen ATA133 und ATA100 wirst du nie merken. Selbst mein RAID0 Array kann nur 80MB/s.

Yup..glaub in irgendeinem Test sind die mal auf max. 90MB/s gekommen
Und es soll auch Platten geben z.bsp.: Baracuda IV, die brechen bei Raid 0 ein.
Anscheinend schlechtes Cachemanagment, die V Serie soll wieder Top sein.

Aber eines weiss ich: NIE MEHR MAXTOR!!!

Das ist nun die 2. Platte was eingegangen ist.
Zudem haben die Platten die nette Eigenschaft, nach ca. 2 Monaten *singen* anzufangen.

Zwar nicht sehr lauft aber supernervend *iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii*
Komm mir vor als wuerde ich durchgehend den Schluss von Battlehymns hoeren, nur der Knall ist erst nach ca. 1 1/2 Jahren gekommen.

In particular for optimal RAID performance with VIA chipset it is necessary to lower PCI latency. Patches lowering the PCI latency for the devices attached to the PCI bus can achieve this. VIA is offering a "Raid Performance Patch". There is also a non-VIA PCI latency patch, named after the author, "Breeze patch". Both patches increase the disk transfer rate by approximately 10 MB/sec. It seems the Breeze patch is performing slightly better than the VIA "RAID Performance Patch".

Seltsam, ich hatte mit Maxtor-Platten nie Probleme. Mein 'Oldie' laeuft seit nunmehr 5 Jahren tadellos und der Lautstaerkepegel haelt sich wacker im gruenen Bereich. Meine anderen Platten (<-- ebenfalls Maxtor) sind mir ebenfalls bisher nie negativ aufgefallen. Da hat wohl wer zwei Montagsplatten erwischt.

jo meine maxtor 60er hat auch noch keine probleme gemacht und ist auch nicht wirklich laut.
hast wohl echt pech gehabt mit den dingern

ich hab bis jetzt noch mit keiner marke ein problem gehabt, weder maxtor, WD oder samsung

momentan wuerde ich die samsung vorziehen, guenstig (trotz ATA133) und leise
