Rochester, New York-based tech grindcore/hardcore outfit PSYOPUS has tapped bassist Brent Glover (pictured below; BELLICIST, ex-RECIPROCAL) as the temporary replacement for Michael Horn, who reportedly quit the band in January. PSYOPUS will release its new album, "Odd Senses", on February 13, 2009 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy; and February 16 in the rest of Europe via Metal Blade Records.
Commented guitarist Christopher "Arpmandude" Arp: "I am super-psyched about the new album. I think the sound of the group has successfully been reinvented. The album lays out a colorful pallet of new concepts and attitudes which, from start to end, is quite the fucking trip. I am anxious to let our fans have the opportunity to dive right in!"

A new song entitled "The Burning Halo" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

If you've seen PSYOPUS at all since the beginning of our Grinding Into Cataclysm tour that began in August, you may have noticed the new face on the stage. Well”¦ Here is the explanation. After Harrison Christie's announced replacement, Matt Duckbirth, flaked out shortly after our press release of his joining the band, we replaced him with Brian. Brian was known as the vocalist from the Binghamton/Rochester, NY band AS THIS BODY, I EXIST. We worked with him intensely, brought him into the studio and recorded the new album. This album was recorded with Brian. VERY shortly thereafter, we jumped in the van and headed out for tour with WAR FROM A HARLOTS MOUTH, FUCK THE FACTS and LEFT TO VANISH. Again, after the premature press release that Matt was joining our band, we wanted to make sure that Brian was indeed the kat for the band before we made it 'official.' We are now here to say that he is indeed the kat for the job. Be prepared for a notch up in the vocal brutality of PSYOPUS."

öh ja. nur mal reingelauscht. klingt gut 9/10 <-- so lange bis ich das ganze album mal gehört habe *g*

Hihi, hier isses genau umgekehrt.

Fällt unter die Kategorie "music to scare the kids". Es klingt wirklich klasse,
mit Musik hat das aber (zu) wenig zu tun.
Ich brauche davon eine Handvoll Scheiben im Regal, die ich mir zum Birne
freipusten raushole. Die Plätze sind halt schon belegt.

Wegen des handwerklichen Irrsinns gibts 7/10, was bei mir die Grenze zum "nicht brauchen"
bedeutet.

da hätte ich wenns kein math im genre gehabt hätte, definitiv eher nicht reingehört.

Rein vom "Anhörfaktor" würde ich der Platte auch 9 - 9,5 Pkt. geben.
Wenn die Jungs noch echte Songs basteln könnten, wäre ich sicher hin und weg...

Aber das ist halt kein Oldschool Death, von dem ich auch 30 Bands ohne Abnutzungserscheinungen im Regal haben kann.

Stellenweise gefällt es mir, aber irgendwie kann ich kein lied bis zum ende durchhören.

Ist mir zuviel rumgewichse.

ich muss ja sagen, das die jungs bei den teilweise schon recht gut platzierten übergängen zum langsamen gewinnen. ist insgesamt mal interessant zum anhören, aber auf dauer verspricht das keinen freude. viele gute ideen und parts fies zusammengewurschtelt und ohne viel struktur - kurzer spaß, komischer nachgeschmack.

der gesang gefällt mir nicht immer. daher 1 punkt abzug. irgendwie stört der sprechgesang die atmosphäre.
