Zitat:Many artists are making instrumental music these days, but few do it well. Most of them muck it up, avoiding anything that resembles repetition, which in turn often leaves listeners with very little to hold onto.http://www.splendidmagazine.com/review.h...9525480772
Bathyscaphe prefer to lay into a single groove/harmonic universe and stay there, like a holding pattern for probability. Although I think the band would argue this, each track's construction is essentially the same: except for the atmospheric "Shutter-Release", overdriven bass, pounding acoustic drums and synthetic texture (synths, drones) are forever-fixated on a journey sans goals. Unfortunately, -11034m's trip is never exciting enough to care about. Even if the instrumentation differs from song to song, it's still the same formula over and over: the band essentially creates loop music without actually looping the performances. Fans of Terry Riley or Lamonte Young might find the effect to be moving and dramatic.
Bathyscaphe could salvage this disc with a few more tracks like "-11034m", a work whose diverse elements yield striking contrasts, but as is, the album's repetitive nature gives listeners too much to hang onto. Instead of hypnotizing, it simply annoys.

Vielleicht was für elSalvadore?
