ich dachte mir, da das ja hier in erster linie ein musik forum ist 
- ist dieser tipp vielleicht ganz nuetzlich fuer einige von euch. habs auf der suche nach neuen sound treibern gefunden.
Vorteile;

- Apparently better sound quality, most notably less distortion on the highs (I'm not fatiguing). Volume is a little lower, but I used the Creative Equalizer 4 setting in the EAX panel and that made everything sweet.

- Significantly less hiss with stuff like CD Audio and Line-In enabled.
- Much cooler, more streamlined, less bloated software with a few more features than before.
- Significantly better separation/positioning (IMO), esp. with elevation and distance.

- Real 24/96 support? Don't know, but it can be enabled now...

when you install the surround mixer, audiohq or similar, always go to the setup.ini and delete ALL entries concerning language. = all language keys, and everything else under the first 3 lines.
do not delete the first 3 lines; the things under [Startup] are important. do not delete them!
do same in any setup.ini and use the Ctrun.exe to install this modified progs. do NOT install anything before you prepared the setup.ini like this, or you will get weird errors. if you already have installed anything, uninstall, restart and DELETE the whole /creative/ folder. you dont have to deinstall the driver btw... I only talk about the software
AND: do not install the "media source"!!! its absolutely buggy. after you installed e.g. surround mixer the setup will start again automatically; ABORT! this new setup will install the media source.
I have a German os... maybe its not so bad in the English version...
you can give it a try though. install the media source and if you dont like it, deinstall. but if you only want to play games and want a great EAX sound, you dont need it anyway.
Aquanox2 and NeverWinterNights sound like a totally different game. really. its absolutely amazing how well the new drivers harmonize with 5.1 or 4.1 speakers. you now really feel something moving behind you, flying from behind you in front of you and so on... you know atonce from WHERE the sound is comming.
I got an audigy 1 and its like owning a completely new card.
especially, as I said, very recent titles like Aquanox 2 or NWN sound absolutely different
