With its twin-guitar formula and its strong rhythmic section, OCTOPUS plays an instrumental fusion that sometimes recalls DREAM THEATERs heaviest moments, as well as Steve VAI or TOOL... Created in the year 2001, this chilean band now publishes its second studio album. Jointly published by the Musea and Mylodon labels, "Bonsai" (2006) displays eight instrumental full of heavy riffs, semi-improvised sequences, complex breaks and rhythms. The musicians are all virtuosos and create a wild music, full of power and experiments, surprises and constant rhythmic and melodic changes. Really impressive !

also die im review genannten bands sind ja alle nicht mein fall. ich wuerde sagen si sind eine melodischere version von behold...the arctopus, indriothere oder dysrhytmia. auf jeden fall handwerklich feiner instrumenteller rock/metal miot manchen schraegen taktzahlen, aber ohne ohrenschmerzende klangexperimente oder noise/feedback getoene. also noch handfester rock, wenn auch recht progressiv. verhaeltnismaessig abwechslungsreich sind sie auch. folglich 8/10

die Tracks von der Bonsai gehen auf Myspace deutlich besser ins Ohr als die von der neuen Coma, vielleicht doch mal ein wenig besser reinhoeren.

Also mir gefaellt die Bonsi recht gut, geht gut ins Ohr, hat nen bisschen was von Wahnsinn und Anspruch.
