Aggression - Thrashing your brain (2008)

One of life pleasures is, for me, to go shopping for new (or old if I got lucky) albums. Thus the other day I was at Gregory to listen to some new thrash releases, just to get an idea of what is been released now days. As soon as the first notes of Aggressions EP 'Thrashing your brain' came out of the speakers I knew we hit the jackpot! Aggression is a new band from Barcelona. The title of the album might sound a little pompous but having in mind their young age and the fact that they play pure thrash, we should excuse them. In especial they play bay area thrash mainly influenced by Anthrax (a little bit by Sacred Reich and Testament). I really like the first two songs 'New born war' and 'Thrashing your brain', which are relatively fast, dance and totally Anthrax. I also notice the last mid-tempo song 'I hate you'. The rest of the songs I think they are quite average regarding composition.
This EP is self-financed (although I think they have found a label), which means that there are many young people out there who want to play traditional metal contrarily to custom. I hope that this band will have a future. As for you people, I have only this to say: support the underground!

Die Tracks auf MySpace grooven ganz gut
Erinnert mich ganz leicht und an manchen Stellen an Metalcore.


Macht Spaß, würde mir rein instrumental aber fast besser gefallen, ist aber noch in Ordnung.

Spanien: Sonne, Sangria und Flamenco. An Thrash Metal dürften die wenigsten denken. Die Jungs von AGGRESSION versuchen dies nun mit ihrer EP „Thrashing your brain“ zu ändern.

„Thrashing your brain“ - mutiger Albumtitel, der doch gewisse Erwartungen weckt – und die Band kann diese durchaus erfüllen! Geboten werden sechs Songs der Bay Area Schule, das Material bietet neben schnellen Abrissbirnen auch stampfende Nackenbrecher – alles was das Thrasherherz begehrt. Heftige Riffsalven, rasante Solis und jede Menge Power. Der einwandfreien Produktion hört man nicht an dass die EP in Eigenregie aufgenommen worden ist. Die Band aus Barcelona schafft es auch authentisch und frisch zu klingen, einen eigenständigen Sound zu entwickeln und nicht nur eine Kopie alter Helden darzustellen.

Mittlerweile konnte die Band einen Albumdeal bei Xtreem Music ergattern, dort soll bald der erste offizielle Longplayer erscheinen. Haltet die Augen offen, diese EP verspricht einen echten Knaller!
