Falls jemand im Netz auf den
"BreeZe RAID Performance Patch 19d" trifft und mir den Funktionierenden Link gibt, kriegt er einen Orden und meine unendliche Dankbarkeit.

Zitat:"PCI Latency" patch for VIA chipsets
This is a Windows driver that will patch motherboards that have VIA chipsets. It is intended to solve many problems, including these:
Files copied from one IDE hard disk drive to another are corrupted
The computer stops ("freezes", "hangs", "locks up") when playing sounds, especially to a Creative SoundBlaster LIVE! card
The computer stops when copying to or from an IDE DVD, CDROM, or CDRW drive
Sounds played by a Creative Labs sound card are distorted
If you do not know whether your computer has a qualifying VIA chipset, please try the free CPU-Z utility from cpuid.com. The name of the chipset is displayed in CPU-Z's "Mainboard" tab.
Beta Version 0.20
This was the last version being tested when development was stopped.
The beta versions have been dangerous to use on some motherboards, especially on older Athlon motherboards with a Creative Labs sound card installed. Please use caution, and back up any vital data first.

Notes about 0.20b21 (updated 6/21/03):
Beta testers say that this version is stable on the Asus A7V133 motherboard (KT133A chipset), as long as CPU cooling is not enabled by software.
This version fixes crackling and video capture problems on new chipsets, such as KT333 or KT400, when cooling is enabled.
This version may be unstable on new (VLink) chipsets if the southbridge chip is not VT8233 or VT8233A or VT8235.
This version is also intended to improve performance of IDE RAID and SCSI controllers.
The following files may be helpful.
Registry documentation for 0.20b15 (usable with current beta)
Sample .REG file for 0.20b15 (usable with current beta)
REG file for max PCI RAID speed (best for 0.20b18 or later, open this in Notepad and read it before using it)

Zitat:Raid 0 Optimization:
(a) PCI Latency
Already a while ago it was discovered that VIA chipsets have a problem handling the increased burst speed of high-end ATA disks. The issue was discovered by the German PC magazine "techchannel" HERE shortly after boards with the KT266A chipset started retailing. In particular for optimal RAID performance with VIA chipset it is necessary to lower PCI latency. Patches lowering the PCI latency for the devices attached to the PCI bus can achieve this. VIA is offering a "Raid Performance Patch". There is also a non-VIA PCI latency patch, named after the author, "Breeze patch". Both patches increase the disk transfer rate by approximately 10 MB/sec. It seems the Breeze patch is performing slightly better than the VIA "RAID Performance Patch".
