Australia's Limb From Limb spew forth a machine-precise, practiced and tight batch of brutal death metal on their first full-length, the questionably titled Rip Him From His Fucking Throne. It”s nothing you haven”t heard before; it”s the kind of record from the kind of band that you see on the side stage at some metal festival and totally rock out to, maybe even buy the record when you come out of the pit. And you even listen to that record from time to time”¦ And you even enjoy that record when you do listen to it”¦ But yet it”s still the kind of record and the kind of band that you never reach for when it counts, that you never find yourself enthusiastically saying, “Yeah, dude. Check out Limb From Limb. They”re fucking sick!” In short, Limb From Limb is good, and this record is also good, but neither is what I would call awesome.

Vocalist Nads, who also does time in Aussie death metal act Excruciate, varies his attack between the requisite gurgled pig grunt and a midrange rasp, the latter of which not surprisingly provides the album”s best and most memorable vocal moments. The man has a versatile voice and gives a strong showing, although like his band, he doesn”t do much to separate himself from his peers. Drummer John Sankey (also of Devolved) is a monster on the kit, providing what”s easily the stand-out performance here, even if sometimes the drums are so mechanical and triggered that he sounds like a machine. (I do wish his kick drum was punchier and his snare less pingy.) The songs are solid, if not particularly distinguishable from one another. Limb From Limb does manage to shake things up a bit in the middle of the record, with some interesting dissonance creeping into tracks like “A Lust To Burn” and “Relentlessly Beheaded” that adds a nice semi-epic, almost-blackened flair to a select few moments of Rip Him. Across the board, the riffs are tightly wound, alternating between the usual blastbeat brutality and the aforementioned dissonance alongside some fleet-fingered tech-death runs. I do feel there”s potential here for Limb From Limb to move into the next level, but this record simply isn”t strong enough to compete with the glut of great death metal released within the last twelve months.

Since the closing track is comprised of a small bit of actual music and then eight minutes or so of a sound effects collage, in the end, Rip Him is only about twenty-three minutes long. Fans of any and everything burped, gurgled and screamed will likely find this an enjoyable listen, but when compared to the recent bad-ass monstrosity from Prostitute Disfigurement, Rip Him is a very solid “yeah, not bad” but not quite a “hell-fucking-yes.”

Persöhnliche Meinung:
Meiner Meinung Nach ist das Album wirklich nicht alzu pralle, es ist was für Leute die sich abreagieren wollen oder wirklich nur diese Musik hören (ja ich hörs auch aber nicht ausschließlich) und auch lieben. Insgesamt ist das ganze Album sehr Eintönig und es wiederholt sich seeeehrrrr viel. Alerdings ist Track numero 3 (Delimbed by the Minions) sehr gut gelungen.
Insgesamt reisen nur wenige Songs das Album in meiner Ansicht, aber bildet euch eure Eigene Meinung .
