Fans of their earlier material will not be disappointed by the band’s lethal blend of Grindcore and Thrash Metal. Waves of Human Suffering is brimming with over-the-top screaming, frenzied fits of speed, and the kinds of guitar riffs that wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Napalm Death’s mid-period output. Jeff Lenormand and Jason Behan’s guitar performances are accomplished but still carry enough attitude to truly compliment Ponitkoff’s insane asylum vocal attack. Check out the violent tempos of “Lost in Apathy” and “Fragments of Reason” for two blistering examples of the Agenda of Swine potency. Like most of Ponitkoff’s lyrical work in Benumb, again he takes on the social ills of the world with the same kind of vitriol. There are a lot of bands doing this kind of thing but few are doing it with even half the heart AoS are tackling it with.

Liebevolles Konzept, welches mehr als nur ein Fun-Side-Projekt des As I Lay Dying Frontmanns zu sein scheint. Die Mucke ist Slayeresker Thrash Metal, den ich mir nur anhoere weil mir das Konzept so gut gefaellt .

Es tut sich was im Muenchner Nachwuchsbereich. Eine Reihe junger, hungriger Bands machen sich auf, die Metal-Welt zu erobern. Eine davon ist Over Your Threshold, mit einem Durchschnittsalter von 21 eine der juengeren Combos. Doch jung ist in diesem Fall kein Synonym fuer unerfahren oder gar unreif, ganz im Gegenteil.
Kommen die vier jungen Herren urspruenglich eher aus der Thrash Metal-Ecke, bietet ihre Debuet-EP Progress In Disbelief lupenreinen Melodeath mit ein paar Reminiszenzen an die Wurzeln der Band, sprich, etwas Thrash ist uebrig geblieben. Und auch wenn ich immer auf dem Wort "jung" herumreite, wirkt das Werk verdammt erwachsen. Denn Songs koennen die Jungs schreiben, das steht ausser Frage. Dabei legen sie sich nicht auf eine ganz bestimmte Spielart des melodischen Todesbleis fest, sondern bieten sowohl heftige Brecher ("Schizophrenia"), sehr melodische und eingaengige Stuecke ("Lie Infected") als auch fast schon episch und elegant zu nennende Songs ("Bury My Darkside"). Abwechslung wird also gross geschrieben auf dem Erstlingswerk. Aber nicht nur das, auch technisch weiss der Silberling rundum zu ueberzeugen: Fuer eine selbstproduzierte Scheibe klingt der Rundling mehr als ordentlich, da braucht sich die Band vor niemandem zu verstecken. Einziger Kritikpunkt meinerseits ist, dass es ein paar Stellen gibt, an denen der Gesang etwas zu weit in den Hintergrund gemischt ist. Aber das sind wirklich nur wenige Parts, wirklich ins Gewicht faellt das nicht. Auch die Instrumentierung beherrschen die Jungs sehr gut, da zahlt sich das viele ueben und vor allem Auftreten wohl aus. Solide Schlagzeugarbeit, die sogar mit ein paar Blasts am Anfang von "Schizophrenia" aufwarten kann, liefert das Fundament, auf dem teilweise richtig grossartige Basslaeufe den Stuecken den noetigen Zusammenhalt geben koennen. Die Riffarbeit der Rhythmusgitarren ist durchweg gelungen und die Leads von Herrn Spielberger sind sogar ausgezeichnet, da kommt regelmaessig Freude auf. Im Sangesbereich wird genreuebliche Kost geboten, die sich durchaus mit der Konkurrenz messen kann, also auch hier alles im gruenen Bereich. Und mit fuenf Euro fuer knapp 24 Minuten ist der Preis fuer das Werk durchaus angemessen, da muss auch niemand meckern.
Da haben Over Your Threshold mit ihrem Debuet wirklich eine tolle Arbeit abgeliefert, ich wuesste nicht, was es an dem Tontraeger auszusetzen gaebe. Fuer mich eine sehr positive ueberraschung und eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung. Wer auch nur ein wenig mit dieser Musikrichtung anfangen kann, sollte der Band unbedingt eine Chance geben!
