#5
Sollte ihr dann auch gefallen, hab dann noch einen Geheimtipp, noch eine Ecke folkiger (ich denke ein neuer Thread muss nicht sein, kann ich aber auch machen):

Zitat:The Young Dubliners is an Irish rock band. Their repertoire consists largely of Irish folk songs and Irish pop with a rock twist: "The Pogues meets Van Halen", as the Los Angeles press once described their sound. Their influences include The Pogues, Waterboys and U2. It is also likely that they were inspired by the success of Hothouse Flowers, whose members included a college-era friend of Young Dubliners cofounder, Keith Roberts, and their live shows featured numerous Hothouse Flowers in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The Young Dubliners were founded in 1988 by Dublin natives Keith Roberts and Paul O”Toole. In those days, their home venue was the Irish Rover in Santa Monica, CA. Their shows were recorded by their soundman, Rob McCulley. Based on these recordings, the Young Dubliners produced their first original song, ”˜Keaton”s Bar”, and a cassette tape of Irish folk and pop songs recorded live at the Irish Rover entitled "The Young Dubliners".

After this recording, the line-up of the band changed continuously. The only constant band member during this time was ”˜John” Brendan Holmes, who still plays bass. Songs like ”˜Dirty Old Town”, ”˜Fisherman”s Blues” and ”˜Rocky Road to Dublin” became essential songs.

After having been directly influenced by Celtic musician Christy Moore and Irish band The Furey Brothers, The Young Dubliners released their second original song ”˜Home”, on an eponymously titled second cassette. Unlike their first cassette, their second cassette was recorded in a studio and featured additional musicians and overdubs, but otherwise had a similar mix of Irish folk and pop songs. After this, they stopped playing at The Irish Rover exclusively and branched out to other venues.

1. "Follow Me Up To Carlow"
2. "If I Should Fall From Grace With God"
3. "I'll Tell Me Ma"
4. "Weila Waile"
5. "Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore"
6. "McAlpine's Fusiliers"
7. "Aishley Falls"
8. "The Foggy Dew"
9. "A Pair Of Brown Eyes"
10. "The Leaving Of Liverpool"
11. "The Rocky Road To Dublin"
12. "Raglan Road"
13. "The Auld Triangle"

Rockige Irish Folk Songs vom Feinsten mit jeder Menge Klassikern aus Irland. "Follow me up to Carlow". "I'll tell me ma", "The foggy dew" uvm., in sehr coolen Versionen. Sollte man mal anhören!
